An interesting experience today – the activation of a personal distress/location beacon (PLB). Coastguard authorities had notified Dyfed Powys Police , who had been unable to contact the registered keeper so acting on the information received alerted the team as the coordinates given fell within our area.
Fortunately quickly after setting off team members pagers it was confirmed to be an accidental activation – panic over and everyone returns to their day jobs.
Don’t get many of these but a reminder that PLBs are now being used on land in the UK as well as at sea.
