Mountain Rescue team members were awoken early this morning in South Wales by the sound of their pagers at 07.15am with Dyfed Powys Police requesting support for a search for a missing male in Newcastle Emlyn, who had last been seen Saturday evening.
Western Beacons MSRT, Central Beacons MRT, Brecon MRT and SARDA South Wales Search Dogs worked all day through rain and miserable weather, along with Dyfed Powys Police and Mid & West Wales Fire Service.
The search was concentrated on the town of Newcastle Emlyn and the River Teifi. The Incident Controller for this large scale joint services operation praised the people of the town and in particular the staff and helpers of Newcastle Emlyn RFC who opened the club house to keep the rescuers warm, and provided refreshments and food free of charge.
29 Mountain Rescue volunteers and 4 SARDA handlers from all over South Wales attended the call and worked for more than 7 hours.
Dyfed Powys Police stood the rescuers down shortly before dusk last light.
