Operational Hill Member
Operational Hill members are formed into hill parties and deployed to perform the actual search and rescue work. Each hill party will have an experienced team member as its leader.
Requirements: -
- Stage 1: undertake an initial training period of 10 months, followed by an assessment.
- After successful completion of stage 1, the second stage is a probationary period of 12 months. (During these initial stages, foundation members are expected to attend the majority of training sessions and will be continuously assessed on their skills, temperament and suitability for team membership).
- Be reasonably fit and capable of going on the hill in all weathers and conditions, with a full pack (which could include both your personal equipment plus any team kit required for an effective rescue)
- Possess suitable and sufficient personal clothing and equipment to withstand any weather conditions on high ground
- Declare any condition which prevents them undertaking regular rigorous physical exercise.
