2008 becomes busiest year on record

We were called last night (Friday 24 October) to a search incident which was our 78th call of the year, making 2008 our busiest recorded year.

Following the previous news item I guess it was inevitably going to happen, that 2008 becomes a record breaking year. Late last night (Friday 24 October) we were called by police to help search for a missing vulnerable male person who was missing from a local community in one of the Rhondda valleys.

2008 is set to be the team's busiest year in its history!

Today we attended yet another call for help and we have now moved into the 70's for this years running total of incidents.

Four incidents in four days

We have been callled to four incidents in the last four days ensuring that the month of May continues to be a busy one - Nine incidents this month so far.

In the last four days we have been called out four times.

  • A group of walkers out for an evening walk in the Brecon Beacons called the police to report a sighting of flares in the next valley. Soon after starting the search in that valley one of our search dogs found a military group taking part in an exercise.
  • Next was to north of Cardiff to help police with a crashed hang glider.
